Our Story

Aurora Farms was founded by Tom and Jaclyn Sawyer, whose contrasting upbringings uniquely shaped the values behind the dairy.

Tom was raised on a 40-acre homestead with his parents and eight siblings, where traditional, self-sufficient living was a way of life. His family logged the land with draft horses, grew their own food, milked cows, raised livestock, and created herbal remedies. This instilled in Tom a deep respect for nature and hands-on farming.

In contrast, Jaclyn grew up as an only child in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. Although she had a strong love for animals and nature—especially through her passion for horseback riding— owning a farm felt like a far-off dream. After having children and facing challenges with her own milk supply, Jaclyn became deeply committed to sourcing the highest quality nutrition possible. Her journey led her to raw milk, which sparked a growing fascination with dairy farming and regenerative food systems.

In 2021, the Sawyers moved to North Idaho in search of a simpler and more intentional life. Their dairy journey began in September 2024, when they acquired their first cow. The experience quickly turned into a passion-driven mission. Within months, they expanded to a small herd of six A2/A2 Jersey cows and established Aurora Farms— dedicated to producing the cleanest, best-tasting raw milk in North Idaho for families seeking uncompromised nutrition.
